SModcast!

What is a SModcast?

SModcast Image

SModcast is a weekly podcast featuring filmmaker Kevin Smith and his long-time producing partner Scott Mosier, although guests are occasionally featured. Released each Sunday night/Monday morning, the episodes are generally one hour in length and feature Smith and Mosier discussing current events and other non-sequitur topics.

The name was derived from taking the first letters of “Smith” and “Mosier” and replacing the “P” in podcast. The podcast was originally distributed through Smith’s entertainment website Quick Stop Entertainment. New episodes were made available for download each Sunday night or Monday morning, and are then released through the RSS feed the following Friday in order to ease bandwidth strains on the Quickstop Entertainment. On January 1, 2010, the host site was sold, the SModcasts were removed and a dedicated site was started. In addition, the one-week delay for iTunes subscribers was dropped starting with SModcast 101.

In September 2009, a book of Smith’s favorite SModcasts called Shootin’ the Sh*t with Kevin Smith was released.

In September 2010, SModcast began playing on SiriusXM’s “The Virus” channel, alongside Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez. In addition to replaying the latest SModcast every week, it will feature a monthly SModcast exclusive to the channel and unavailable online for one year.

Fun Times With Beyblades!

What is Beyblades?

Beyblade is a brand name for a line of spinning top toys originally developed and manufactured by Takara Tomy, first released in 2000. The toys include a ‘launcher’ – a device for bringing the spinning top up to speed, with either a separate or integral rip-cord. This ‘ripping’ action causes the tops to be ejected, at the end of the movement. Players eject the tops into a plastic arena, with a slightly dished base, where they subsequently strike each other. The last top still spinning wins. Skill can be used in the deployment of the tops, which significantly influences the way they move around the arena, and subsequently interact. The different styles of device respond differently to the collisions, so advantage might be gained from using a particular type of top against a particular opponent.

Both the toys and their name were inspired by Gustavo Murcia, who also drew inspiration from; “Beigoma”, a traditional spinning top. The concept is similar to Battling Tops. The introduction of the toy corresponded with the broadcast of the Beyblade anime television series of the same name. In 2002, Hasbro began to sell Beyblade toys internationally (under license from, and produced by, Takara) along with a coordinated country-by-country rollout of localized versions of the TV series. The Beyblade toy line went on to be one of the most popular toy lines in the world from 2000 to 2005.[citation needed] In August 2008, Takara Tomy released a new generation of Beyblade with a metal outer layer; the first incarnation of the toy in three and a half years. from the Basic System through the Heavy/Hard Metal System, Beyblades were categorized as Attack, Defense, Combination, or Endurance Types, but when the Hybrid Wheel System was introduced, the Combination and Endurance Types were renamed as Balance and Stamina Types, respectively. These Beyblades may have pictures on them that symbolizes a creature (known as a Bit-Beast or the Face-Bolt ) which shows what the Beyblade does, or looks like. In Beyblade Metal Fusion, they have symbols on them that represent one of the 88 named constellations in space, while in the 4D series, beyblades are named after planets and constellations.

Reasoning Behind Post?

I often have my nephews up on the weekend to spend time with them. Their getting older and growing like weeds everyday but we found a box of their old toys from when they was younger. We discovered a set of Beyblades in this box and we decided to get them out and have some battles. We did not have the proper fighting arena but being innovated young minds we decided to make our own. The first attempt was with two 24-pack Coke cartons and two hammers. You’re probably thinking to yourself now, What?!? Like I said, we’re young innovated minds working with the materials we had. This newly built arena worked pretty good for the most part but when we started getting crazy and taking the game up to new extremes. That’s when the downfall of our genius ideal collapsed! It was all laughs and snorts until the Beyblade proceeded to enter the 24-pack carton of Coke and puncture a hole in two of them! After the clean up process, we decided to find something more reasonable to use for an arena. I searched through the house and discovered the top to a Sterilite Container box. This container top was a better solution and less hazardous if things went south.

The mishaps of building the arena and constant trash talk made the evening enjoyable and very entertaining! Through many snorts, belly aches from laughing hard, and victory dances! It makes you enjoy and love the time you get to spend with your family. I’m blessed to have my awesome nephews and look forward to the adventures we continue to have down the road!

Our Opinion

I received a call from my brother one day saying, “Little Brother, you need to try this new game called Don’t Starve.” I pulled up my trusty friend Google and proceeded to type in the name of the game and bam! First item from the search results was the game’s website. I went to the website and noticed the play now option. I tried the game through Google Chrome which ran it perfectly. I was able to play two days worth of game play. After my trial period was over, I tried it again and again trying to make and build more things in my limited amount of time.

I couldn’t get enough of playing the game and I wanted to share the news. Luckily my nephews was at my house and I let them try it out and instantly they fell in love with it! We played the game several times and we concluded, the two hours of game play was not enough. I went back to the company’s website and noticed they had a special deal where you brought the game and you got a second copy free! What was my next move? I purchased the game and gave the other copy to my nephews! We’re happily enjoying this incredible addicting game!

Its tough and challenging but that’s what makes the game addicting! Klei Entertainment Inc. has done an amazing job creating this jewel and I just wanted to express my thoughts and recommendations for everyone to give this game a try!
